OpenEQ was born from inside that challenge.
Our founder spent years building digital education infrastructure at one of the world's leading universities. Speaking with more than 60 senior leaders across the sector, the same problem surfaced again and again. Validating a new programme idea was taking up to 12 weeks, data was fragmented across dozens of sources, and when decisions were wrong the cost to an institution could reach £600,000 in lost revenue and wasted investment.
This was happening at scale, across the sector, at exactly the moment universities could least afford it.
Developed within the Oxford ecosystem by practitioners who understood academic strategy and digital education from the inside, OpenEQ was shaped by real planning decisions and real feedback from the people doing the work.
In 2026 OpenEQ was awarded the Oxford Venture Builder Prize, recognised for its innovation in applying AI to one of higher education's most persistent challenges. The platform is backed by the Oxford Innovation Incubator and is now available across the UK higher education sector.
